  • A one day boycott, that will show them just like it did on reddit lol

The organizing strength of online communities when it comes to major corpos is a fucking joke. These companies are financially insulated to sustain losses from boycotts for weeks most likely. If you go back to playing the game after one day, then all you did was inconvenience them.

Switch games and refuse to go back until demands are met. This industry is one of very few that has mass competition. If a competitor grows then thats a much bigger threat than any boycott

  • It is mostly likely the same reason why adobe, microsoft, and google strike these kind of deals: the job market demands their usage and so not educating your students on how to use them means not properly preparing them for their future career.

Its a dogshit scenario, but as a web developer forced to use windows 11 without admin permissions and pidgeon holed into every garbage MS product this company requires I use, not knowing how to use their tools and operating system would have disqualified me from getting the job, even if I know how they work simply by using a competitor.

I doubt OpenAI survives another year without govt bailout, but currently, every dipshit with too much money who hires people expects us to know how to use the hallucinating gaslight machine.

  • As neat as that would be, nah I mean release the IMAX version of these movies for people to watch at home on their own devices. Disney+ already has some of these on their platform, and they work great with a latger TV, but cheap projectors are a lot more common these days, and theres also no reason IMAX couldnt work in a VR headset.

Theaters are overpriced and the quality of movies these days make the price harder and harder to justify. They also lock you into whatever situation they provide to you, so you dont control the volume, dont control if the other patrons are assholes, generally dont have good options for subtitles, and zero ability to pause to use the bathroom which is even more annoying now that movies are twice as long with less than half the narrative depth of movies that are half the length. IMAX is often the only valuable reason to see a movie in theaters anymore, but almost every theater I’ve been to cranks the volume so loud that I just get overstimulated and it ruins the experience. I’d much rather be able to control the environment I watch these things in so I can actually enjoy them.

I know my experience is not the same as everyone else, but it still seems stupid to gatekeep these versions of films
