It’s such a cornerstone of theater, the music is so damn good. Somehow I expected it to be from like the 1800s
You can tell when the synth comes in
Was it seriously? I thought it was like, from the 1700s (I know next to nothing about Phantom of the Opera).
yep, first stage play was 1985. The plot is based on a book from 1910, but the music was all original composition. Same guy who did Cats
Some of you didn’t grow up overheating to the point of nausea in a dodge grand caravan while your mom fucking BLASTED Andrew Lloyd Weber’s latest drop and it shows.
That’s really blowing my mind lol.
Wait you’re telling me Cats isn’t from the 1800s either??
(Okay, so it’s based on a story that was serialized in 1909, so…it’s kind of old?)
Toccata and Fugue in D minor is an old song that this is a cover of, so I guess there’s that. I think it also seems old because “Phantom of the Opera” is such an old timey sounding name. I guess if it’s based on an old book, maybe they were referencing stuff that was even earlier…
ha! it is! silly me mistook the album art for the song
