The conversation that seems so hard to have:

We are at a crossroads. One path leads to an eco-dystopia in which most of us become slaves to the 1%, vs. another path that leads to a futurist utopia in which we focus on solutions that benefit all of mankind and all the other lifeforms on the planet.

It seems like an easy choice except for that 43% of the american population that has been duped into fighting to make sure we end up in the dystopia because jesus and guns or whatever.

Is this not a simple trolley dilemma? When do we realize that we have to pull the switch? There’s a way out of this that most of us don’t seem to want to recognize. I’ve watched politics for over 30 years first person, and I don’t see playing the simple democracy game getting us anywhere. I think we need to resort to more despicable measures. Does anyone agree?

There is certainly truth in that.

Writing off a human being is never fun, even if its a lunatic bunch like the MAGA crowd.

But here starts the issue: The moment a human breaks away from the boundaries of reality, the chances of rescuing them just become so slim, expending the energy is not really worth it anymore. Maybe you do that with a dear friend or family member, but not with large ammounts of people in this country.

Another problem: They actively dismiss things that are objectively killing humanity as a whole. Climate Change, increasing far-right, ecocide, late-stage capitalism.

If they were just a bunch of cult-followers that would be one thing, following a grifting half-dead corpse of an epstein-friend to his never to early grave. But they are not only an obstacle, but a clear and present danger to humanity itself.

It genuinly pains me to say this: We simply do not have the time anymore do be compassionate. We either throw them off the ship, stear clear of the iceberg and save the ones who want back on board, or we all go down together.

I would be in politics, if I had a working idea.

        Maybe something like:

        • Educate the young into progressive ideas
        • Wait for the old guard to die off
        • Try save the planet in the meantime
        • Bring back class-struggles
        • Make abortion a big topic, because they loose on that
        • Mock and laugh at Republicans openly at every opportunity (They have no spine, but a big ego to hurt)

i have some bad news for you. we’ve been doing that for 4 or 5 decades now. it isn’t working.

the 60’s was one of the biggest explosions of progressive ideas. it brought about a lot of change, but only after radicals started throwing monkey wrenches into the gears of society in the 70’s. they’ve been saying “wait for the old guard to die off” since the 70’s. they keep making new ones. we can’t make any significant steps towards saving the planet as long as there’s a voter base that keeps electing conservatives to office. bernie brought class struggles to the forefront. not much changed. abortion is a huge topic right now. we actually have gone backwards one that one. republicanns don’t care if you laugh at them. they’re making plans to exterminate you as we speak because they understand that we still live in a ‘might-makes-right’ world. when are the good guys gonna figure this one out?

                That ship has sailed.

Trump will be elected because Biden is just so laughably bad…and it appears as if he doesn’t mind probably because Democrats would honestly rather lose to Trump than piss of their billionaire oligarch owners by giving constituents even a breadcrumb. We have two parties working toward the same corporatism and a bunch of frothing tribalists preventing us from coming to grips with that fact.

Haven’t you noticed that saying , “but Trump” allows Democrats to do WHATEVER they want. Ever since Trump appeared on the scene, Democrats have happily stopped listening to their constituents.

I have a feeling that we’re actually on the same “side” but your brainwashing (coupled with trauma from constant online vote-shaming) prevents you from recognizing it.

If they want to pretend they’re the Taliban or the Vietcong, let them try and let them die like idiots in the process of finding out that those organizations were actual professional armed combatants with training that amounts to more than shooting up beer cans at 40 paces.

The Bundy Clan’s exploits have proven multiple times, if these morons actually press the right buttons to be determined as anything but a bunch of loons who just need to be talked down from the ledge, they’ll end up so many kinds of dead that Saint Peter is going to be handling stack overflow errors looking their rap sheets up at the perly gates.

You’re sitting here, characterizing BIDEN as the person who will bring us:

a futurist utopia in which we focus on solutions that benefit all of mankind and all the other lifeforms on the planet.

How badly have worms have infected your brain when you honestly believe that Biden will bring you ANY of those things after 4 years of his administration loudly proclaiming, “best I can do is pretend that my hands were tied in helping US citizens in ANY way whatsoever. You’re lucky that I even pretend to pander.” and using his executive orders to send BILLIONS over there to help murder brown people and getting us into 7 wars?

You think that if Biden gets elected, he’ll suddenly create this utopia when in reality, we’ll be pretty much just as fucked as we are under a Trump presidency. These two are really only different in their rhetoric if you look at what Biden is doing at the border to appease conservatives.

            What conversation?

You implied that Trump will bring about the end of the world while everything will be sunshine and daisies if Biden wins (conveniently pretending that we don’t have 4 years of each to objectively compare them). I posted to laugh at you and that I disagree and you simply coudn’t take it and had to brigade me and call me names while not engaging me on any meaningful level. You’re really not coming off as incredibly intelligent yourself.

You never said anything but posted a picture of Trump supporters and specifically cited the figures of Trump supporters. What you’re doing by denying that you were talking about Trump, ladies and gentlemen, is called gaslighting.

You know a dude wrote this because someone AFAB woulda remembered the trump court did Dobbs before saying something as tone deaf as “just as fucked as we are under a trump presidency”

Do you want to give him a chance to make it a unanimous SCOTUS to ban gay marriage this time? How many people who you’re conspicuously aware are ahead of you on the kill list have to be sacrificed before you accept that just letting it go full speed is a worse option than even one that only slows it down?
