Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar has announced that the Ukrainian army has liberated the village of Urozhaine in the Donetsk region of the country. “Our defenders are fortifying their new positions. The offensive is continuing,” Maliar wrote on Telegram.
It is “another village”, but it’s also a “breakthrough” the first line of defense.
Is this a proper breakthrough? Are the Russian’s caught off guard? Or is this just another village capture?
I’m with Ukraine until the bitter end, not trying to be a debbie downer, just trying to grasp the situation.
There are 2-3 lines of defense. If you do it right (ISW asses Russia built them to sound doctrine so they are probably done right) each line defends the last, so breakthrough just brings them to the next line which will be hard to breach.
