Interesting thought. Forgive the stream of conciousness:
I think there is wisdom in understanding that each of us is just a part, a subset of the universe. I am part of the universe, therefore, i am the universe. Just as a cell within my body is a part of me, and thus, is me.
But also, i think there is wisdom that only I can make action with my body, and that I cannot make actions via other bodies. I, whatever I is, has sole control over this part of the universe, the part that makes up my body. So it is up to me to join and participate in a larger sentience, a larger conciousness, or decline it if i do not align with it. In the same way all the cells in my body have aligned to form me, and if they one day stop aligning to a form, me will cease to exist.
So, while you and I and the earth and everything else are indeed one thing, and could act together as one thing if we were concious enough to, and form a sentience, and be able to make tremendous action from that conciousness - i cannot action you, and you cannot action me. And since we have not all aligned, the universe as a sentience, is currently dead.
If each of these parts of the universe where to become concious of each other and act synergistically with each other, wed likely have greater thoughts and greater actions than any individual or smaller subset.
What about psychological manipulation and abuse? What about advertising? What about propaganda? What about education? What about ragebait and clickbait?
We’re all capable of influencing the actions of others. We don’t have absolute control of others, but we also don’t have absolute control over ourselves. Some people can’t walk. Some people can’t focus. Some people can’t stop the intrusive thoughts. Some people have as much control over other people as some people have over themselves.
It’s certainly not much fun.
