This is an Olympia DeLuxe ultra-portable mechanical typewriter. Ultra-portables are shorter than portable typewriters, I think the idea was that they could fit under an airplane seat. This one uses a cursive typeface, quite unique for the time. Also, the keyboard has a dedicated '1' key. Many typewriters would omit a '1' key to save space, typists were supposed to use a lower-case 'l' instead. Since an 'l' and a '1' look different enough in cursive, the dedicated '1' key was necessary. I use a different Olympia for a lot of my writing, this ultra-portable caught my eye. The cursive font would make it well-suited for letters. #typewriters
