When I press on some message to forward it, it shows me Random usernames of contacts I don’t know. And it even shows some Mobile Numbers I don’t know. For example, one number starts with +964 that’s Iraq. I’m from Europe tho. These contacts and numbers are from all over the place.
Are these under “Contacts” or “last messages”? If they’re under contacts, you likely have some other app that provides these dubious contacts. Might also want to check your contacts app if it contains dubious entries.
Nope. Thanks for the idea, but they don’t show up anywhere else. Only find them in the “forward to” window.
I just counted. Signal leaked 56 random people to me.
They are members of group chats you are in. A bit confusing, but not leaked as such.
Wrong. I’m in two group chats. And they are not in any of them. Signal literally leaked 56 contacts to me. These are people from all over the world. I don’t know anyone from Iraq or asia. I only use Signal for Real Life friends from my Country.
Sorry for being so dismissive. I had just experienced this myself the other day, with larger group chats I had been added to.
I am interested to see what you figure out, have also read the cross-post.

Did you get signal from the official app store or did you follow a random link? There’s malicious versions out there or someone cloned your sim card.
Yes, I did get it from the official source. And it only happens on Signal Desktop. Not on the Android version. I edited this into the original post, but the cross post didn’t seem to have updated.
