GamingOnLinux has been on Mastodon for ages, Nov 21 2016 in fact!
But with the recent migration to Mastodon, I guess it couldn’t hurt to let people know you’re there already.
The joke has probably gone over my head, but great to see.
Its basically the intro to the original Half-Life game. If you haven’t I’d highly suggest playing the original or getting Black Mesa which is a remake of the original by a third-party company but with Valve’s blessing to do so.
This is the intro to Half-Life 2, but the original and Black Mesa are great games as well.
It’s a parody of Dr. Breen’s “Welcome to City 17” speech from the start of Half-Life 2. If you’ve never played Half-Life 2, then it’s a very, very, very strong recommend from me.
If you haven’t played half life 2 you should stop what you’re doing right now and do that.
Not a fan of AAA and don’t like FPS. Played 20 mins of Halo and it wasn’t for me.
Edit: wrong game, still point stands.
My brother. They are no where near the same game. I understand not liking first person but halo and half life are not comparable past first person.
There’s a reason Valve can’t make a third and it’s because 2 can’t be topped.
My mistake. Still FPS? Still get gun, shoot folk?
Haha this must be a troll gotcha 😂
No. You do realise there is lots of gaming genres? I understand it isn’t obvious if you have been gaming 10 years and only play AAA.
Yep a troll. A rude one at that.
In our current unparalleled enterprise, refusal to switch platforms is simply a refusal to grow—an insistence on watching ads, if you will. Did the Digg user refuse to Reddit? It did not. It crept forth boldly while its brethren remained in the blackest ocean abyss, with lidless eyes forever staring at the dark, ignorant and doomed despite their eternal vigilance. Would we model ourselves on the Facebook user?
I really like Mastodon but it’s so hard to find other people that you have on Twitter. Lemmy is closer but i’m still gonna miss out on some small communities from Reddit
Yep, Mastodon takes some effort to get going. You need to find people who are interesting for you yourself, in order to seed your feed with interesting stuff. And it goes much smoother if you also interact yourself, which is where many lurkers, used to Twitter and its algorithm feeding them content, hit a wall. It’s just a completely different world in there.
