A guy I know whose entire musical taste was I think informed by the writing of Pitchfork used to find my enjoyment of Cake very “amusing” because “they don’t even sing” they’re just “talking” over the track.
Joy was not something he expressed on the regular, so it was never lost on me how he couldn’t find Cake enjoyable.
Satan Is My Motor is a great, groovy song.
